The Team at Roseville really includes everyone.

Whilst like many churches we have a Minister and Elders, there are many others with many ministry gifts who do a host of things, which make up our whole church family. One of the strengths of Presbyterian Churches is that along with the Minister (as first among equals) the congregation is led by a team of Elders called a Session.  Presbyterian in effect means “ruled by elders”.  In NSW they include both males and females who are generally ‘lay people’ in that they are not employed by the church and generally have normal secular employment.   A wide variety of gifts and insights are brought to bear in the areas of oversight , pastoral care, evangelism, training, Bible Study and so on due to the breadth of a good team of Elders.

Graham Spence - Minister

Graham has been the senior minister at Roseville since July 1999.   He is keen to bring the whole counsel of God to the community through the systematic sharing of what the Bible teaches, building up believers in their faith, reaching out to the community, and fostering a caring pastoral concern.

Graham is married to Janet who is a private school academic support coordinator.   They have four adult children and four grandchildren.

Previously Graham was minister at Bankstown (Revesby), Cessnock, and Queanbeyan.  Prior to entering the ministry he was a qualified company secretary and accountant.

Stephen Jonker - Afrikaans Minister

Stephen’s ministry started in the Dutch Reformed Church Middelburg-Kanonkop (RSA - 1981). Seven years later he accepted a call to Walvisbaai Meersig in Namibia.  After 11 years of ministry there, he and his family returned to South Africa where he enrolled for a year long teacher’s training course. Then the family came to a Christian School in Gympie, QLD where Stephen taught a Year 6 class and Hanli (his wife) mainly secondary mathematics.  On Sundays they travelled to the Nambour Presbyterian Church where he conducted services in Afrikaans. By the end of 2003 he accepted a call to the Middle-Clarence Presbyterian Charge. After 6 years in Grafton, they moved to Sydney where he is now the assistant to Graham Spence, the minister of the Roseville and Lindfield-Killara Presbyterian Church. Stephen’s main responsibility in this congregation is the outreach ministry among migrants from Southern Africa.

His wife Hanli is an excellent artist. Their daughter Gisela has a degree in medical science and is married to Luke (2 grandkids). Their son Stuart has a degree in information technology and is busy with studies in theology.
